WHAT IS CHINESE MASSAGE?

WHAT IS CHINESE MASSAGE?       By Jone Guo, Chinese Medicine Expert, State certified therapist.

To answer this question, we need to know what Chinese medicine is, because Chinese massage is a branch of it.

Chinese Medicine, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, was created by Yellow Emperor about 5,000 years ago. And recent studies show that the use of Chinese herbs can date back to about 10,000 years.

I-Ching, or the Book of Yi Jing, was also created at the same time, which points out that everything in the universe is made of two things: Yin, and Yang. Yin is the definition for black, dark, female, night, etc, while yang is the opposite: white, bright, male, day, etc.

Almost all people know the sign of yin and yang. They must exist in perfect balance and harmony, or things will go wrong.

And this is the foundation that Chinese Medicine is based upon. We, each one of us, the body is built with yin and yang with its natural balance. And when the body is “off-balance”, which means when you have too much yin, or too much yang, you are sick.

When you have too much yin, your yang will be depressed, and you will suffer with symptoms like weak muscles, weariness,  cold hand, cold sweat, impotence, etc.

When you have too much yang, your yin will be depressed, you will suffer from hypertension, headache, hot flesh, trouble-sleeping, etc. I see many of my clients suffering from having too much yang in the body.

When your body is out of balance, there should be NO delay to receive treatment to bring the balance back to your yin and yang. Or the so called “evil energy” will go deep into your meridians and cause much serious sickness.

There are twelve meridians inside one’s body, they operate according to different time of the day, and they move in a big circulation witin 24 hours. These meridians relate to different organs, and along them, acupuncture points are stationed.

Chinese medicine consists of herbs, acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion, and massage. All of these methods target your meridians and acupuncture points. When you are sick, it means a certain part of your meridian is not working well. It is just like a stream, flowing inside your body, when it is clogged, the downstream will be short of energy supply, and upstream may have too much of it. Chinese medicine will unblock this part of the channel, so the chi, or life force, will flow freely again. Your balance of yin and yang will be back, and you are healthy again.

Massage, called “mo-sa”, in ancient China, is a great natural way to bring back people’s health. It will target your meridian channels and acupuncture points and give you ultimate healing result that no other massage can achieve. Chinese massage is natural medicine, Chinese massage is therapeutic massage. A massage therapist is a Chinese Medicine doctor in China, who has profound knowledge of meridian network and its working features, their doctrine is: “Magic hands bring back the springtime.”
